Nolvoria Online - Complete Guide
📑 Table of Contents
Welcome to Nolvoria Online!
Nolvoria Online is a multiplayer RPG where you create a character, explore towns and wild zones, fight enemies, complete quests/contracts, and level up. Most gameplay is done via the button-based Commands panel, and chat is for talking (and roleplay via /me).
Character Creation
When you first register, you'll create a character. You'll select an identity, race, and class, then allocate stats with a 10-point buy system:
Identity: Choose Male, Female, or Non-Binary for your character.
Race & Class: Each race and class has a unique emoji that appears before your character's name in chat, your profile, and the character card.
Stat Allocation: Use the 10-point buy system:
- Base Stats: All stats start at 1
- Point Costs: Stat values 1-10 cost 1 point each, 11-20 cost 2 points each, 21-30 cost 3 points each, and so on
- Maximum: 15 per stat during creation (minimum 1)
- Total Points: 10 to allocate
Stats Explained:
- STR: Melee hit rolls (melee weapons + unarmed) and melee damage. Modifier = floor((STR-10)/2), clamped to 0-10
- DEX: Ranged hit rolls (bows/crossbows) and damage for DEX-based classes. Modifier = floor((DEX-10)/2), clamped to 0-10
- CON: Maximum HP, healing potion effectiveness. Modifier = floor((CON-10)/2), clamped to 0-10
- INT: Mana potion effectiveness, and magical weapon hit rolls (staffs/wands) if INT mod is higher than WIS mod. Also increases Max MP for INT-primary classes (like Wizard). Modifier = floor((INT-10)/2), clamped to 0-10
- WIS: Used for some class skills and magical weapon hit rolls (staffs/wands) if WIS mod is higher than INT mod. Also increases Max MP for WIS-primary classes (Cleric/Druid). Modifier = floor((WIS-10)/2), clamped to 0-10
- CHA: Used for some class skills. Also increases Max MP for CHA-primary classes (Bard). Modifier = floor((CHA-10)/2), clamped to 0-10
MP scaling: Your Max MP scales with your class primary stat (e.g. Wizard → INT, Cleric/Druid → WIS, Bard → CHA, Ranger/Rogue/Monk → DEX, etc.).
Races
Choose a race for your character. Each race provides a unique bonus:
- Human: +1 to any one ability score
- Elf: +1 DEX
- Dwarf: +1 CON
- Halfling: +1 to ranged attack rolls
- Gnome: +1 INT
- Half-Orc: +1 melee damage
- Dragonborn: +1 STR
- Half-Elf: +1 CHA
- Orc: +1 STR
- Goblin: +1 DEX
Note: Race bonuses are applied after stat allocation and are capped so stats do not exceed 15 at creation.
Classes
Choose a class for your character. Each class has a primary stat that affects their abilities:

Skills are learned automatically as you level. Below is the complete list of obtainable skills, organized by class.
How to Play
Nolvoria Online uses a button-based interface. Most game actions are performed using the buttons in the Commands panel.
Use the command buttons panel below your inventory for quick access to all game actions. You can minimize panels using the ▲/▼ buttons.
Getting Started (New Players)
This is a quick “what do I do first?” walkthrough. If you only read one section, read this one.
📍 Locations are the core of the game
- Everything happens in a location (Town Square, Tavern, Shop, Wilderness zone, etc.).
- Chat is location-scoped: you only see chat from players in the same location.
- Nearby Players and NPCs lists also only show what’s in your current location.
- Not every feature exists in every town: shops, crafting, enchanting, fishing/mining, and dungeon entrances depend on where you are.
Tip: If you don’t see a button/feature someone mentions, you’re probably in the wrong location. Use Navigation to move.
✅ Your first 15 minutes (recommended path)
- Get oriented in your Town Square. Check the Location panel, say hello in chat, and open your Profile to confirm your class/stats.
- Accept a quest from the Quest Board (Town Square). Quests are location-based, and early quests teach core systems.
- Buy starter gear (if available where you are). Prioritize a better weapon first, then armor, then potions. If your town doesn’t have a shop you need, navigate to a town that does—shop options expand as you reach new regions.
- Go to a hunting zone and start Hunts. Hunts are repeatable PvE fights that give XP, gold, and sometimes loot.
- Sell loot or convert it. Most loot is meant to be turned into power:
- Item Exchange: turn loot into gold (main “loot → gold” path).
- Tinkerer (Stonevein+): turn loot into crafted rewards (costs gold; a gold sink).
- Repeat the loop: Quest Board → Hunts → Gear upgrades → More zones → Bigger rewards.
⚔️ Combat basics (what new players usually miss)
- Turn-based: you pick actions when it’s your turn; watch the battle log for results.
- Potions: can be used from the battle screen during fights (if you have them).
- Skills: unlock as you level—skills often scale off your class’s primary stat.
- Travel/combat: many actions are blocked while in combat, so finish/surrender if you need to move.
👥 Playing with others
- To party up, be in the same location. Invites generally require you to be physically together.
- Party bonuses apply when members are hunting in the same location.
- Party dungeons (like Rimewarden Keep) require a party and have server-timed turns—stay attentive during your turn.
Rule of thumb: When stuck, check your location first, then your cooldowns, then whether you’re in combat.
Shops
Shops are available in certain locations. Click the shop buttons to open shop windows where you can buy and sell items:
- Weapon Shop - Buy weapons to increase your damage
- Armor Shop - Buy armor to increase your defense
- Potion Shop - Buy healing and mana potions
- Tool Shop (Stonevein) - Buy pickaxes and fishing rods
- Tinkerer (Stonevein) - Turn in loot value + pay a gold fee to craft item rewards (a gold sink)
- Jeweler (Port Vanthellum) - Add sockets to gear and craft/socket gems
- Item Exchange - Sell loot (and some items) for gold (your primary “loot → gold” path)
Shop stock scales by region: Farrowfen includes city gear plus extra options, and Stonevein includes city + Farrowfen gear plus additional items.
Note: Shop buttons have a 5-second cooldown after use.
Jeweler: Sockets & Gems
The Jeweler in Port Vanthellum lets you add sockets to weapons and armor, craft random gems, and permanently socket gems into your gear.
- You can only add one socket at a time, and only the next socket level.
- You must own a duplicate of the exact same item. The duplicate is consumed whether you succeed or fail.
- Costs / Success chance:
- Socket #1: 6,500g at 80%
- Socket #2: 13,000g at 40%
- Socket #3: 22,750g at 20%
- Socket #4: 32,500g at 3%
- Turn in loot worth 3,250g (by sell value) to craft a gem.
- Gem effects are randomly generated each time you craft.
- Gems are tradable and sell for 1,000g.
- You can socket gems into gear that’s equipped or in your inventory.
- Gems cannot be removed once socketed.
- Sockets are visible in inventory and trades.
Tinkerer & Item Exchange
These two systems are intentionally different:
- Item Exchange: Convert loot into gold (this is the main way to “cash out” your loot).
- Tinkerer (Stonevein+): Convert loot into item rewards (buff potions) and pay a gold fee (gold sink).
- Because Tinkerer crafts cost gold, it keeps Item Exchange relevant for funding gear purchases, enchanting, and crafting fees.
- Sort your inventory by sell value to quickly find high-value drops.
- Lock items to prevent accidental selling (recommended for rare fish/ores like Astral Koi).
- Hide expensive items (enabled by default) to reduce misclick risk.
- Selling any high-value item triggers an extra confirmation prompt.
Tip: The Tinkerer uses the same “loot value” as Item Exchange (loot sell prices). If you overpay, the extra value is refunded as gold (crafting fees still apply).
Combat
You’ll fight in hunts (PvE), dungeons, and PvP duels.
- Hunt - Start a PvE fight in hunting zones
- Duel - Challenge another player in an arena
- Combat is turn-based with dice rolls
Combat System: Turn-based dice combat. Roll d20 + modifiers to hit. Critical hits (natural 20) double damage.
Weapon Types: Every weapon is labeled as melee, ranged, or magical. Staffs and wands are the only weapons labeled magical.
Hit Rolls (Basic Attacks):
- Melee weapons (and unarmed): d20 + STR modifier
- Ranged weapons (bows/crossbows): d20 + DEX modifier
- Magical weapons (staffs/wands): d20 + higher of INT or WIS modifier
Damage Calculation:
- Unarmed attacks: Always use STR modifier for damage (1 + STR modifier)
- Weapon attacks: Use your class's primary stat modifier for damage (weapon dice + primary stat modifier)
- Primary stats: Fighter/Barbarian/Paladin use STR, Ranger/Rogue/Monk use DEX, Cleric/Druid use WIS, Wizard uses INT, Bard uses CHA, Sorcerer/Warlock use higher of INT or WIS
Armor & Damage Reduction:
- Armor increases your AC (Armor Class), making you harder to hit
- Some high-tier armor pieces provide Damage Reduction (DR) - they reduce incoming damage by a random amount
- Damage reduction is shown in battle logs (e.g., "Damage: 10 - 3 (Scale Mail damage reduction) = 7 damage")
- DR ranges vary by armor: Scale Mail (1-3), Chainmail (1-5), Plate Armor (5-8)
Buff Potions (Tinkerer): Some crafted potions grant temporary buffs like +AC or +Damage for 3 turns. Buffs refresh (replace) if used again.
Hunting (PvE)
- In hunting zones, click Hunt to start a battle against a random enemy for that zone.
- Winning a hunt rewards XP, gold, and sometimes loot.
- Loot is mainly for selling at Item Exchange (gold) or turning in to the Tinkerer (item rewards + gold fee).
- Hunts have a short cooldown between starts to prevent spam.
World Events (Rifts & Invasions)
World Events are server-wide activities that appear for a limited time. When an event is active, you’ll see a World Event banner near the top of the game screen. Click it to open the event window, see progress, and contribute.
- Invasions: Fight in the event zone — hunt victories contribute to clearing the invasion.
- Rifts: Stabilize a rift in a town — contribute by offering loot (by value) to the rift.
- Contribution: Your personal contribution is tracked during the event (higher contribution improves your reward).
- Rewards: After the event ends (resolved or expired), you can claim your reward from the event window.
- Tip: Even a small contribution is worth doing — you’ll only be eligible to claim if you participated.
Dungeons
- Brambleton Sewer - Requires a special access item (ticket).
- Mistveil Crypts - Requires a special access item (key).
- Rimewarden Keep (Party) - A party dungeon with server-authoritative turns and timed actions.
Dungeon requirements are enforced by the server; if you don’t meet the requirements, travel/actions will be blocked.
Fishing & Mining
- Available in Stonevein.
- You need the appropriate tool: Fishing Rod or Pickaxe.
- Fishing/Mining have cooldowns and can’t be done while in combat.
- Mining tip: Better pickaxes make the timing minigame easier.
- Mining safety: Missing a strike still salvages a small consolation ore (so it’s never a total loss).
Weapon Enchanting
- Weapon Enchanters exist in Farrowfen and Stonevein.
- Enchantments can add bonuses like attributes, HP, or damage (depending on the enchant roll).
- Minor Enchant costs 1,300g (discounts may apply).
Travel (Warp/Recall)
- Recall - Returns you to your spawn point (cooldown applies).
- Warp (Premium) - Fast travel between visited towns from a town square (cooldown applies).
- You can’t fast travel while in combat.
Expeditions (Offline)
Expeditions are an offline progression system. You send your character out on a job, log off, and return later to claim a small reward.
- Where: Inside any Inn → Inn Services → Expeditions.
- Offline only: Expeditions only advance while you are logged out. If you stay online, progress pauses.
- One at a time: You can only have one active expedition (or one waiting to be claimed).
- Durations: 1h, 2h, 4h, 8h, or 12h of offline time.
- Claim: Completed expeditions must be claimed from inside an Inn.
- Balance: Rewards are designed to be a nice little boon, but much lower than active play.
Expedition types:
- Hunt Patrol: Modest loot bundle + a little gold.
- Mine Shift: Ore bundle + a little gold. Requires a Pickaxe.
- Fishing Trip: Fish bundle + a little gold. Requires a Fishing Rod.
- Courier Contract: Gold only (no loot).
Quests & Inventory
Use the buttons to manage your quests and inventory:

- When you complete a quest, you'll receive XP, gold, and sometimes items as rewards
- Most quests are not repeatable - once completed, they cannot be accepted again
- Some quests may require specific actions (like battling training dummies, hunting enemies, or selling items)
Inventory:
- Inventory - Opens a window showing your equipped items and all inventory items
- In the inventory window, you can equip/unequip items with a 3-second cooldown
- Items must match their slot type (weapons in weapon slot, armor in armor slot)
- Item stats are displayed: damage for weapons, AC for armor, effects for potions
Tip: You can minimize the inventory and quest panels using the ▲/▼ buttons.
Leveling & Progression
- XP Required: 100 × your current level
- Level Up: Gain 1 stat point to allocate (spend in Profile card)
- HP: Increases with level and CON

- Stat Points: Open your Profile to spend unallocated stat points. Stats can be increased up to 50.
- Scaling costs: Raising stats gets more expensive at higher values (example: 10 → 11 costs 2 points).
Talents
Talents are a universal progression system for all classes. You unlock a new talent choice every 5 levels (Level 5, 10, 15, … up to 100).
- Where: Open your Profile and click Talents (next to your name/title/level info).
- One choice per tier: Each tier has two options — pick one.
- NEW highlight: The Talents button will glow / show NEW when you have an unspent talent choice.
- Respec: You can reset your talents for gold. The cost scales by unlocked tiers:Level 5: 3,250g • Level 10: 6,500g • Level 15: 9,750g • etc.
- Economy caps: Value bonuses like shop discounts / sell bonuses have server-side caps to prevent runaway economy scaling.
Titles
Titles are earned per character. You can select an active title in your Profile. Active titles appear in your profile as [Like This] and are color-coded by rarity.
Trading
- Players can trade items and gold using the trade interface.
